Museum Wiki Week[edit]

Museum Wiki Week Logo

Museum Week is a global event that takes place during a week each year with the participation of museums, associations, and cultural institutions.

Created in 2014 from the commitment of twelve French museums wishing to expand their audience, each annual event promotes an international cause.

In 2015, the second event, MuseumWeek became the most important global cultural event on Twitter.

The Museum Wiki Week is inspired by the Museum Week and aims to add more content on Wiki Projects during one weekː

  • 7 new Wikipedia articles about Museums
  • 7 new Wikidata items about Museums
  • 7 new photos/videos about Museum

A commitment to add content over 7 days can be very motivating and easy to achieve. So imagine 100 Wikimedians engaged in the Wiki Museum Week, after 7 days we can haveː

  • 100 x 7 = 700 Wikipedia articles about museums and their collections
  • 100 x 7 = 700 Wikidata items
  • 100 x 7 = 700 photos on commons
