Wiki Club AMU is an extra-curricular club under the umbrella of DCW, formed by a group of students at Aligarh Muslim University on 31 May 2024.The club promotes participation in Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, Wikimedia Commons, and Wikidata, encouraging students and alumni to contribute to the global free knowledge movement. It also conducts workshops, edit-a-thons, and discussions to build digital literacy, collaboration, and research skills among students.
Objectives
[edit]The club’s primary objectives are:
- To engage AMU students and alumni in contributing to open knowledge platforms.
- To organize training sessions on Wikipedia editing, Commons photography, and Wikidata contributions.
- To promote gender equity and inclusivity in digital spaces.
- To build awareness about free culture, open access, and data transparency.
- To represent AMU within the global Wikimedia community.
