In this project, we have documented the available butterfly species and subspecies in Arunachal Pradesh. This is an extended part of the Wiki Loves Butterfly project namely Wiki Loves Butterfly in North-East India (WLB-NEI). In this project we are concentrating on the district wise butterfly species availability in different season in Arunachal Pradesh.

WLB TEAM CO-ORGANISING 5th NORTH EAST BUTTERFLY MEET 2018[edit]

The Wiki Loves Butterfly Project team had done a significant & first water mark job by co-organizing & supporting a National level Butterfly meet at Pakke Tiger Reserve in Arunachl Pradesh ,India taking place from 29th September to 2nd October. The said butterfly meet entitled 5th North East Butterfly Meet-2018 organized by Butterflies of North East India Group & co-organized by Wiki loves Butterfly Group, Aaranyak, Numaligarh Refinery Ltd. & Department of Environment & Forest, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, participants from different states of India like West Bengal, Assam, Sikkim, Kerala , Tamilnadu etc. They are documented ,photoshoot & oriented 180 butterfly species under the guidance of resource persons Mr. Monsoon Jyoti Gogoi (BNHS) & Mr. Ashism Kr. Choudhuri.

A nice presentation apertaining to Wiki Loves Butterfly project & Wikimedia Foundation was given by Mr. Subhendu Khan of WLB team assisted by another WLB team member Dipanjali Biswas which had subsequently cherished a good deal of outreach programme & the immediate outcome was the joining of a north east butterfly enthusiast Gayerti Dutta in our team. WLB team sponsored the prize for the best participant in Butterfly Quize session of the Meet & the prize, The Book Of Indian Butterfly[1] by Mr. Issac Kehimkar was finally gifted by the champion participant to the forest guides of Pakke Tiger Reserve for development of their specific knowledge on butterflying. WLB swag materials highlighting WLB project & Wikimedia were also distributed among participants & others . Certificates containing WLB logo & other organizers’ logo were awarded to participants. A press release of the event was published in local newspaper. The event was a grand success.
