Wiki for Minorities/Minori-Ties Programme/Widow Women Project

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

The Widow Women Project is an initiative within the Minori-Ties Programme of Wiki for Minorities (WfMin) that seeks to make visible the problems that arise in some societies from the widowhood of women. Being unmarried brings with it a series of challenges for women who are left alone, especially under a predominantly patriarchal system, where from a family, social and religious perspective they suffer some situations that affect their mental and physical health. Concepts such as dishonor, shunned, humiliation become increasingly common in their lives, with contempt from their own families, the spouse's family and even from the closest social environment, facing prejudices and unfounded myths. These situations are even more aggravated when the woman belongs to another ethnic, religious, or linguistic minority or suffers from a disability. From the wiki movement we believe that we can contribute to reversing this reality.
