Abstract[edit]

Wikimedia Commons is one of the Wikimedia projects that is quite interesting but many especially the newbies are often not interested or do not take part in it because they do not know how to do it. There are so many articles without images on Wikipedia especially the small wikis simply because there are no corresponding images to attach with. Meanwhile, there are so many beautiful legitimate images kept on people devices when they could help the Wikimedia Commons platform by uploading them when they have the the skills to do so. Many of the experience editors also upload photos which sometimes ended up being deleted or tagged for deletion for violation of the common rules and sometimes for copyright issues. Many experience editors and newbies do not sometimes label and or categorize their images very well and it becomes difficult sometimes to locate them for used on other Wikimedia projects.

Expected outcomes[edit]

This presentation seeks to take newbies and experienced editors on the common rules and how to properly label, describe, Categorize and upload images on Wikimedia Commons. At the end, images uploaded will meet all the requirements and stand the test of time on Wikimedia Commons Platform for use on other Wikimedia Projects. Images uploaded shall be easily located on the Wikimedia Platorm.

Duration (without Q&A)[edit]

15 minutes
