From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Your Username: operarioribeiro

Your Country of residence: Brazil

Amount requested: CHF 1,000.00

Planned activity: Two edit-a-thons on the themes of "Peace Culture Institutions and Agents" and "Interfaith Diplomacy Institutions and Agents", using the Wikipedagogy methodology of developing historical timelines of Wikipedia articles along my internationally awarded syllabi "Peace Culture and Interfaith Diplomacy Compared Histories" and "Solidarity and Art Compared Histories".

People involved
I'm going to Geneva (from November 21st to December 14th at least) to participate in the United Nations (UN) Universal Declaration of the Human Rights (UDHR) 75th Birthday Ceremony, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) & World Trade Organization (WTO) Colloquium for Teachers, and to meet many other peace culture secular and interfaith diplomacy institutions leaders on various different issues I work with. These two events would allow me to gather important international stakeholders around the Wikipedia to improve nonviolence, peace culture, sustainable development, rule-of-law, interfaith dialogue, and their heritage safeguard. I would really love to have your help developing these events and inviting the best WikiGLAM local partners to be with us.

Please explain what influence your activity will have on Wikimedia Projects
This project would help promote the role of Wikipedia and Wikimedia Foundation have in the research, safeguard, implementation, and promotion of nonviolence peace culture and secular interfaith dialogue institutions and projects worldwide, specially for their further rule-of-law regulatory compliance. This way we will bring more participants from faith-based, religious-based, and ethical-based niches to participate and edit our beloved collaborative encyclopedia, which have thousands of articles not yet developed or underdeveloped.

Please provide links to your contributions after your project or activity ended:
Since we are developing the Rio de Janeiro Interfaith Peacemakers research's official website, we didn't put any of its materials online yet. I will send you the provisional PDFs in my email.

Discussion

Hello @Operarioribeiro , can you provide an approximate budget for the event(s), as well as details of the costs you expect to pay with this microgrant? As things stand, we have absolutely no idea what you're going to spend the money on if you're granted it...

Furthermore, what impact do you foresee on projects in the languages used in Switzerland? One of the conditions of the microgrant is to be currently active in a Wikimedia project in one of the Swiss languages (German, French, Italian or Romansh). If the only link you have with Switzerland (excluding its languages) is Geneva, that seems a bit weak to me.

  • Oppose Oppose : the applicant has not indicated how he intends to use the funds requested. In addition, the project has no connection with Switzerland, apart from being held in Geneva, and the planned page edits have no connection (language or subject) with Switzerland either. — Omnilaika02 (talk) 17:24, 24 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]
