Our new website is online
We're glad to announce that we finally launched our new [http// Wikimedia CH] website. We want to thank Martin Sauter and the agency [http// Young & Rubicam] for their commitment as well as all their efforts and hard work invested in building it. We are especially grateful as Young & Rubicam took on this project as a pro bono mandate.

As you probably have noticed from the Wikipedia banners, the yearly fundraising campaign is currently undergoing until December 31st.

Let's fill the gender gap in Geneva
For this workshop's last meet-up for 2015, we are actively looking for Wikimedians to provide constructive feedback on the participant's Wikipedia articles and exchange with them around a buffet. Feel free to show up Tuesday 15th December from 12 to 2 pm, at the Uni Dufour in Geneva, in the salle informatique 0119 located in the basement. We're looking forward to see you there.

Swiss cheese project
With the year end festivities coming up, talking about food seems appropriate. Indeed, we would like to inform you that a Swiss cheese project is currently undergoing with the User:Softenpoche who has been busy photographing local varieties, especially from the canton of Fribourg. You may find his contributions here. If you are inspired and wish to use them to illustrate articles on cheeses on Wikipedia, here is the list of all the existing articles and categories on the WP:FR, on the WP:DE and on the WP:IT.

Wikipedia atelier in the Cantonal Library of Thurgau

Cantonal Library Thurgau

On November 28, the fourth Wikipedia writing atelier took place in the Cantonal Library of Thurgau. Many people participated and put their efforts in the creation of a "Portal Thurgau" in the german-speaking Wikipedia. Check it out here.

Wikimania Esino Lario[edit]

Will we have an alphorn in Esino Lario?

On November 25th, the working group of Esino Lario met in Milan to define the program of the conferences. Several novelties are to be expected in comparison to previous editions as to what Wikimania will focus on:

  • An accent on the Wikimedia community and specifically on volunteering time
  • Further integration between Wikimedia's staff and volunteers
  • Enabling an open air village for projects and chapters in a public square like the old bazaars

The next step resides in defining speakers for the different topics to be addressed during the conference.

Rhaeto-romance languages

Rhaeto-romance Wikisource project
Wikimedia CH helped the user Gian Francesco Esposito, aka Mizardellorsa, to build a Rhaeto-Romance digital library in Wikisource. Currently the library has 173 new texts in Ladin language and 241 new texts in Romansh language. This initiative is part of a wider project that aims to improve the presence of endangered alpine languages within Wikimedia projects.
