Wikimania Quiz (During the In-person event)[edit]

  • There were 44 million registered users on Wikipedia at the time of the Wikimania session.
  • There were 1030 Wikipedia Administrators at the time of the Wikimania session.
  • There were 328 language wikipedias at the time of the Wikimania session.

Welcoming new members to the Wikimedia Movement[edit]

  • There were community members who were knew to the Usergroup and did not know activities being done.
  • There were moderately new members who still found it hard to differentiate between Wikimedia, Wikimania, Wikipedia, and Wiki Loves competitions.

In-person events create a deeper bondage and bring people together.[edit]

  • The In-person Wikimania celebration saw Usergroup volunteers from outside Kampala (as far as Eastern Uganda in Mbale) come together to network physically after over three years of virtual meetings.
  • The social gathering enabled put names to faces of members who had always participated virtually in Usergroup activities.
  • There was great interest in an in-person Wikimania, the target number of people and applications trippled due to the interest exhibited in the scholarship applications.

How did you connect with other people during Wikimania 2022? How did you celebrate at Wikimania 2022?[edit]

  • I connected to other people through the event platform (Pheedloop), session recordings on the Youtube channel, and also during the inperson event organised by the Wikimedia community usergroup in Uganda. We celebrated at Wikimania 2022 by cutting a cake, and also celebrating the winners of the Wikipedia quiz which is mentioned above.
