Wikimedia Japan - Türkiye Friendship logo

Wikimedia Japan-Türkiye Friendship is a project organized by Wikimedians who are active in Turkish or Japanese Wikimedia community. This project aims to enrich Wikimedia contents about Türkiye or Japan and strengthen the collaboration between the two communities.

In February 2023, Japanese Wikimedian Eugene Ormandy introduced Üsküdar University Wikipedia Student Club in his Diff article "University student Wikipedian communities around the world". In August 2023, Eugene Ormandy met Turkish Wikimedian and Founder of Istanbul Bilgi University Wikipedia Student Club Caner at Wikimania 2023 and hit it off. After the event, on September 8, they launched this project.

August 18, 2023	Caner and Eugene Ormandy met at Wikimania 2023.
September 6, 2023	Caner introduced Eugene Ormandy and Student Wikipedian Community in Waseda University Tokyo in a Diff post "An event where diversity, collaboration and the future meet: Wikimania 2023".
September 9, 2023	Caner and Eugene Ormandy launched a project called "Wikimedia Japan-Türkiye Friendship"
September 9, 2023	Caner created a logo.
September 11, 2023	Caner created a "Hi!" logo.
September 11, 2023	Caner translated Eugene Ormandy's Diff post "Taufik Rosman and Eugene Ormandy were interviewed by BBC" into Turkish.
September 13, 2023	Eugene Ormandy published a report of the launch of this project on English Diff
September 15, 2023	Eugene Ormandy's Diff post "Wikimedia Japan-Türkiye Friendship project was launched" was translated into German.
September 19, 2023	Eugene Ormandy's Diff post "Wikimedia Japan-Türkiye Friendship project was launched" was translated into Turkish.
September 22, 2023	Caner created a logo for Diffquote.
September 28, 2023	Eugene Ormandy quoted Caner's Diff post "An event where diversity, collaboration and the future meet: Wikimania 2023" in his Diff post "Diffquote Volume 1 (9 September 2023)."
September 29, 2023	Caner created a logo for declaration of friendship between student Wikipedian clubs in Türkiye and Japan.
October 3, 2023	Eugene Ormandy wrote an article "Friendship between Wikipedia Student Clubs in Türkiye and Japan" on English Diff.
October 4, 2023	Eugene Ormandy introduced Wikimedia Japan-Türkiye Friendship in his Diff post "Wikimania 2023 and Wikimedian of the Year 2023 awardees."
October 10, 2023	Kurmanbek shared Wikipedia Student Clubs friendship declaration on BİLGİ Wikipedia Student Club's social media accounts Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram and Threads
October 10, 2023	Eugene Ormandy made slides to introduce the friendship project in Japanese and English and uploaded them to Wikimedia Commons.
October 10, 2023	Takenari Higuchi and Eugene Ormandy held a small editathon in Nagoya, Japan.
October 16, 2023	Eugene Ormandy introduced the project in his Diff article「早稲田Wikipedianサークル勉強会（2023年10月10日）」
