WikiScienceCompetition 2017[edit]

User:Cayambe, User:GilPe, User:Les Meloures, User:MMFE, User:Robby, User:SITCK, User:Soued031, User:Sultan Edijingo, User:Zinneke... just want to inform you that Wiki Science Competition has started in the whole word.

Please notice that I was focused on the academic committee, only now that the main work there is done I am helping with the organization. If someone else has contacted or not contacted you as a user group, I don't know. I can't exchange all the details related to more than 190 countries and dozens of affiliates, I am just trying to give scientists from all the world similar opportunities, that's it.

Here is a brief update.

Luxembourg does not have a specific category but can join with the international one (category for all left-over countries and international centers). I am not totally comfortable with the global selection of who get a specific upload category and who don't, but at the moment I am happy if we can at least inform people. National selections are there for additional prizes, the academia in the end is a network nowadays, especially in place like Luxembourg. Maybe next time (2019) you can make a single category. We can merge right now with Belgium if you prefer.

Today I have informed the research institutions there with a letter in French. I used French because it was a letter for France and I dropped some emails directly.

In any case in m:CentralNotice/Request/Wiki_Science_Competition_2017_(November_1-30) there's a request for banner for WSC. I don't expect a great output from Luxembourg and if we get the banner in France or Germany, the news should probably arrive there. In any case since there is no even coverage between countries if you support the idea we can have a banner there as well.

Otherwise, if you want to tweet our hashtag (#WSC2017 #WikiScience) or use facebook to promote the event, please go on. I live in China and I can't do such things easily.

I did my best to produce an international jury with people with scientific background. If anyone amongst you is a scientist with a bibliometric record and want to be a juror, let me know.--Alexmar983 (talk) 13:55, 12 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
