  • Wikipedia ends the year with 17,534,926 articles. One year ago there were 14,678,281 articles. There has been an increase of 2,856,645 articles, which means 19.46% more articles.
  • Now there are 3 Wikipedias with more than 1,000,000 articles (one year ago, there were 2), 35 with more than 100,000 (29), 98 with more than 10,000 (90), 199 with more than 1,000 (184), and 266 with more than 100 (245).
  • Wiktionary ends the year with 9,925,871 entries, compared with 6,854,158 last year. There has been an increase of 3,071,713 entries, which means 44.8% more entries.
  • 2 Wiktionaries have more than 1,000,000 entries (unchanged from last year), 21 more than 100,000 (15), 54 more than 10,000 (49), 92 more than 1,000 (83), and 137 more than 100 (124).

  • The Ripuarian Wikipedia is down to just under 11,000 articles after a massive number of redirects labeled with the {delete} template (temporarily inflating the article count) were actually deleted.
  • The Piedmontese Wikipedia has reached 30,000 articles with Medeo VIII, about Amadeus VIII, Duke of Savoy in the 15th century and also known as the antipope Felix V.
  • The Czech Wikipedia has reached 180,000 articles.

  • The Gujarati Wikipedia has reached 15,000 articles
  • Continuing bot activity brings the Aromanian Wikipedia to 40,000 articles, quadrupling the number of articles in 27 days.
  • The Czech Wikipedia has been awarded the Project of the year award in the public voting part of the Czech Open Source awards. It is the third time (after 2007 and 2008) when it has received the award. In 2007, the Czech Wikipedia was also the overall winner of COS.
