General Updates

• Wiki Loves Plants

Will be hosted in January till February 2023 which is a plant photographic competion. Douglas has lined up, judges, banner ads application has been applied for the competion. Pictures will be reviwed in March and hopefully end of April winners will be announced. Douglas encourages members of the board to volunteer to host various events. • Copyright mini-conference

Douglas has been working with partners such as Recreate, to organise the copyright partner who are organising the conference. In the mini conference Douglas is organising mini events in Pretoria, in Pretoria will be on the 23rd and 24 of January and in Cape Town it will be held on the 26th and 27th of January. Members of the board are encouraged to join or volunteers to the events, they can also join via livestream.

• Wiki Loves Africa
• Wikimedia ZA partake in Wiki loves Africa 2023 in South Africa. The theme for 2023 is "Climate and Weather" dates for the commencing of the competion to be announced in 2023. Members are encouraged to volunteer for hosting events or be an assistant cordinator alongside Shupai Mchuchu

• Banners update

New banners needed for Cape Town and Wikipedia Afrikaans. This to be actioned in 2023.

• Zakie Achmat meeting

Douglas had a meeting with Zakie Achmat, on training his team on the ins and outs of Wikipedia. The project is to run training sessions. The tarining to start sometime in 2023 after everything has settled in the month of January

• Vanessa Chen UCT History Department APC archive training for 18 Jan 2023

• Intern training

A training of social meeting needs to be developed as well as a manegerial process. This training an be used for future training of Wikimedia ZA interns. This to be disscussed in January when this are set and stone. A meeting was held with Wikimedia ZA and the WMF to craete various templates for the interns to use which is consistent. A social media plan to be put in motion which can be reviewed on a monthly basis.

Chapter Holidays

• This will be last ops meeting for the year. Shupai to give an update on our next years ops and board meeting. was suggested to resume Wikimedia ZA business on the 10th of January 2023. It was not opposed by attendees of ther meeting.
