General Updates[edit]

Wikimedia ZA will be giving a presentation at the South African Press Association which will be held on the 25th of May 2023 WMZA will engage with the South Africa Press Association in Pretoria as part of the regional activation for the Open the Knowledge Journalism Awards.
Douglas will record his 5 minute presentation and will share with the Chapter, for the South African Association press.
Douglas has been requested to organise a similar conference in with the Cape Town press club
Douglas and Deon to meet and discuss the grant, funding and budget discussion, anyone else wants to join to let Douglas know.
Wiki Loves plants winners have been announced. One winner from New Zealand want to collaborate with WMZA. Winners were announced and their prizes will be sent to them via Amazon
1lib1ref took place which Ingrid and Bobby gave a presentation. Dashboard is set up and 7 editors thus far. Another one will take place this coming Friday on 19 May 2023.
On the 27th May we will be hosting our 28th meet-p in Cape Town at the Truth coffee shop

We need to provide a UPS to SUnita the Afrikaans administrator, as she is experiencing heavy lodshedding her side and this will enable her to join meetings.
Jan the new board member will need a UPS as well to join meetings.
There is a budget for purchases such as little items
It was proposed to execute the two ups purchases for Sunita and Jan.
It was supported with no objections.
Shupai to create a page on Meta on written policies as way of tracking them.

We will be having a website work sop for members, an invite has been sent out, everyone is invited.

We will be having our financial meeting this coming Thursday, everyone is invited, especially the one on the finance committee

It was suggested a policy needs to be written in place for purchases, What entails for big purchases and budget limit
