General Updates

• Bobby and Jan are attendnig a Wikipedia lanaguge project launch. This event is partnering with academics and scholars under Sadilar .This is to increase the African lanaguges content on Wikipedia. This is going do be done through a period of 6 months. There is budget of R200 000. The budget allows veteran Wikipedians who are editors will be paid for training at R700/h, approx 20 hours per trainer over 3 days. The one day workshop will teach people on Wikipedia. Unfortunately one day workshop is not enough to train people on how to edit Wikipedia, besides just giving them a crash course on Wikipedia.

Douglas is offering training on the Wikipedia curriculum for the event, after the operational meeting. The event starts at 8:00 am. Bobby will be giving a presentation on Wikipedia.The next project will be in October, the official training date still yet to be confirmed and this will be held at the University of Mpumalanga. More awareness need to be spread so we can have more experienced Wikipedians. For the upcoming event in October will want a 3 day workshops, a 2 day workshops and a f 1 day. Each workshop having around 1-3 trainers present. So we will need to keep watch on the budget to make sure we can use it effectively based on the ask of SADiLaR. SADiLaR is responsible for organising the event with the universities and we the Chapter responsible for running the workshops. (Sadilar https://sadilar.org/index.php/en/) decides on the universities and we co-market the events. Due to our current Facebook problem, every member can share on their onw facebook platform to raise awareness.

• Bobby & Nobantu has created a new WIMZA Facebook page because our old one was blocked. After a year of trying various avenues, we are now shutting down the old page - but we can't get access. David Richfield might still have access.

=Chapter Hiring Committee

• Nobantu to present her agenda at the next board meeting. people to sit and think about the idea of HR management. A lot needs to be considered. We need to look at the policy of the hiring process, it was said there is a lot of loop holes within the hiring policies and processes
• Accountability'
• What laws are we following
• The evolution of the chapter
• Board members encouraged to think on this and be tabled at the next board meeting which will be at the AGM meeting in November. The next month Coenraad will engage with members involved on the running of google drive pf the chapter, where all our documents and policies are kept.
