The Creative Commons annual report of activities 2018

2018 was the year that Wikimedia TN User Group launched the creation of its Creative Commons section . This new project aims to defend works under CC licenses, setting up partnerships with governmental and non-governmental institutions to make their publications, texts and photos available for users and facilitate the share of information with the respect of copyrights and finally it aims to advocate for an open data and open knowledge inside the Tunisian Wikimedia community.

Tunisia national ice hockey team photos[edit]

The Tunisian user group has reached out the Tunisian association of ice hockey to take photos for the national team. The realization of this task was at that time (April 2018) almost impossible since Tunisia doesn't have a federation for this game (the application was in progress), just an association, and also because the team is training outside the country. So the current president of the Tunisian association has kindly given us 14 photos and putting them under CC licenses was our responsibility. At the end, we got successfully the OTRS tickets for the given pictures.

  • The outcome of this initiative : 14 photos.
  • Members and personalities :
    • Radhouane Bousrih, the original photograph
    • Habib M'henni, OTRS approval
    • Sami Mlouhi, contacting the author of photos and uploading them on Wikimedia Commons

Presentation[edit]

During the WikiConvention Francophone 2018, held October 5-7 in Grenoble, Sami Mlouhi has pointed out the importance of the use of CC licenses in our work as volunteers in Wikimedia movement through a presentation called Licences Creative Commons, un atout pour l'œuvre, l'auteur et l'utilisateur (Creative Commons licenses, an asset for the work, the author and the user in English).

In fact, this asset promotes the creative sharing of an artwork, secures intellectual property rights for authors and provides free access for users.
