Edition Workshop on UCV

On February 28, 2018, Wikimedia Venezuela made its first face-to-face activity of the year training high school students of the Los Chaguaramos School in Santa Mónica, Caracas. The activity was held at the Central Library of the Central University of Venezuela, 20 people participated in person.

100 Chicas Wiki

In partnership with Busca tu Espacio project, for second year in-a-row, on the International Women's Day, the 100 Chicas Wiki edit-a-thon in the Sala Movistar of Los Palos Grandes. The event was framed in the global campaign Art + Feminism that seeks to make visible the contribution of women and the arts in Wikipedia. This year the organizations Soy Mujer, the Hispanic American Center for Women FREYA and EmpoderaRSE were added as partners. The first day of the event, March 8, 2018, a colloquium was held with Fabiola Romero, founder of the Spanish American Center for Women (Freya), Daniela Ropero, founder of the NGO I am female and CEO of Chama Tech program was conducted and finally Erika Ordosgoitti, performance artist, audiovisual artist and poet.

During the second day 25 people participated in the edit-a-thon, achieving the improvement of 41 articles being 18 new articles. Due to the high interest in participating in the edit-a-thon, a second convocation was opened for April 7, 2018 in Sala Movistar of Banco del Libro in Altamira (Caracas).

Myths and Truths about Wikipedia in Wayuunaiki

On March 23, 2018, the first talk and editing workshop for speakers of the Wayúu language was held at the Cecilio Acosta University (UNICA) in Maracaibo, Venezuela. The talk focused on how to edit Wikipedia and the workshop was developed in the Wikimedia Incubator for their language. 25 people participated in person.

Feminist Edit-a-thon

In partnership with Mulier Feminismo, the Feminist edit-a-thon was held in the city of Maracaibo on March 24, 2018. The event was framed in the global Art + Feminism campaign that seeks to make visible the contribution of women and the arts in Wikipedia. The activity was carried out in Workcreando, an entrepreneur space located in the Zulian Museum of Contemporary Art . 24 people participated in person in the edit-a-thon, achieving improved 8 items being 6 new items.

CDCH UCV 60th anniversary's Edit-a-thon

In partnership with the Council for Scientific and Humanistic Development of the UCV (CDCH-UCV) an edit-a-thon was held on its 60th anniversary, on April 13, 2018, to create articles on scientific researchers graduated from the Central University of Venezuela. The activity was held at the headquarters of the CDCH-UCV in La Floresta, Caracas. 13 people participated in person in the edit-a-thon.

Women on Scene's edit-a-thon

On April 20, 2018, the first face-to-face event was held in the city of Mérida in Venezuela. In an alliance with the Art, Formativity and Events Group of the Universidad de los Andes (ULA-GRAFE), the "Women on the Scene" edit-a-thon was held . 12 people participated in person in the edit-a-thon.

1st Wiki del Arte edit-a-thon

In partnership the GBG ARTS® gallery was held on July 10 in Caracas the first Wiki del Arte edit-a-thon, focused on making visible the work of Venezuelan artists in Wikipedia. The activity was held at the gallery's headquarters in Prados del Este, Caracas. 13 people participated, achieving the improvement of 17 articles with 13 new articles.

2nd WikiScouts edit-a-thon

On July 21, 2018, the second edition of the WikiScouts edit-a-thon was held in the city of Trujillo, in partnership with the Scout Association of Venezuela, to improve (with the support of its members) the articles related to the localities of the Venezuelan territory.


Wiki DDHH Venezuela Edit-a-thon 2018

In partnership with Wikimedia Argentina, on September 14, 2018, the Wiki DDHH Venezuela Edit-a-thon 2018 was held, focused on the promotion of human rights through the expansion and construction of collective memory on the Wikipedia platform. The event was held at the Wayra headquarters in Caracas. 16 people participated, achieving the improvement of 75 articles, with 6 new articles.

2nd Wiki del Arte edit-a-thon

In partnership the GBG ARTS® gallery was held on November 20 in the city of Caracas the second Wiki del Arte edit-a-thon, focused on making visible the work of Venezuelan artists in Wikipedia. The activity was held at the gallery's headquarters in Prados del Este, Caracas. 12 people participated, achieving the improvement of 13 articles being 2 new articles.

Editatona VenezuElla 2018

During the National Encounter of Diverse Women of Venezuela, the first Editatona VenezuElla 2018 was held, focused on improving biographies of some of the most outstanding women in the country. The event was held in the city of Caracas on November 18, 2018. 4 people participated, achieving the improvement of 3 different articles.

Edit-a-thon with Medianálisis

Between November 30 and December 1, 2018, we closed the year with an event for journalists of the Civil Association Medianálisis in the city of Barquisimeto. The first day was an editing workshop in Wikipedia, while the second day focused on working the database of newspapers that have stopped circulating due to the paper crisis in Wikidata. 10 people participated, achieving the improvement of 45 articles, with 25 new articles.

Desafío Tricolor

During the months of July and August of 2018, the Desafío Tricolor contest was held, focused on improving the quality of articles about Venezuelan history and culture. 54 people participated, improving 92 different articles during the contest.

Suena Wiki

[edit]

Suena Wiki is a project in collaboration with Humano Derecho radio station, thought as the first radio space in the country to talk about Wikipedia and the projects that are developed in favor of access to Free knowledge. During 2018, two chapters were released, on December 19, 2018, the incidence of the Fake News was discussed, with the participation of Carlos Delgado Flores, and on December 26, the Gender Gap was discussed in digital environments, with the participation of Yenni Peña.
