- Narrate your plan in details: The Sustainability Initiative was created in 2016 and it aims at reducing the environmental impact of the Wikimedia projects. The 2020 Wikimedia movement strategy implementation recommendations pledge to "align our practices to support the environmental sustainability of our planet.", and discussions to implement this recommendation are under way. This lightning talk will give un update on the current developments around environmental sustainability in the Wikimedia movement.
- How will this session be beneficial for the communities in India?: Climate change affects everyone, and everyone is needed in the fight to mitigate it. Wikimedia's environmental sustainability efforts may change the way the movement organises (e.g. more remote meetings than physical ones) and place a new focus on climate change and climate justice topics for our content and partnerships efforts.
