  • The chapter conducted its October Meetup event on Saturday, October 5, 2013 in New York City, where we discussed follow up on recent ideas and chapter business.
  • Joined NYC Aaron Swartz Hackathon at Old Pfizer Building on November 8,2013, shared in DIY book-scanning projects.

Jan-Mar 2014[edit]

  • As part of the Wikipedia ArtAndFeminism campaign to improve coverage of women and the arts on Wikipedia, we held the Art and Feminism editathon on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Eyebeam Art and Technology Center in Manhattan, New York City, NY. The twitter hashtag is #ArtAndFeminism. A list of over 400 women who worked in NYC was provided for inspiration. There were about 86 participants in this editathon. About 13 new pages were created, and about 16 pages modified as a result of this event. In addition, three public domain books on 19th century homemaking were uploaded to Wikisource.
  • An inaugural Innovation Law and Policy Editathon was held on Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the New York University School of Law located in Manhattan, New York City, NY. We worked with law professors and activists to create, edit, and improve articles at the intersection of law and innovation. There were 20 participants and nine articles worked on.

Apr-Jun 2014[edit]

  • The main focus in this quarter was the first ever national Wikipedia Conference USA which is positioned in geographical scope between the local/regional and the international Wikipedia conferences. WikiConference USA 2014 took place over a three day weekend at the New York Law School in New York City, NY from Friday May 30, 2014 through Sunday June 1, 2014 for over 28 hours of conference activities. This conference was organized by this chapter (WikiNYC) and Wikimedia DC. The Wikimedia Foundation provided a $35,000 grant, Consumers Report provided a $2,000 grant, and many individuals donated.
