Wikimedia Education Programme that took place at The Oxford School, Calicut,Kerala,India. It was to explore the vast array of educational opportunities available within the Wikimedia ecosystem for the school students.The programme helped to understan the core principles and values of Wikimedia projects, navigate the Wikimedia platform and accessing valuable educational resources, encouraging students to actively contribute to Wikipedia, Wikibooks, and other Wikimedia platforms and promoting digital literacy, critical thinking, and research skills through collaborative editing. The event was inaugurated by School Principal, Dr. Anas, who wholeheartedly supported this initiative to promote digital literacy and empower our students through Wikimedia projects.

Survey[edit]

A pre-survey has been conducted as part of Wikimedia Education programme. Students who studies in grade 10 and 11 ( age 14-16) were participated in this survey. Though there are plenty wikimedia related platforms available, senior secondary students only know about Wikipedia. They were unaware about Wikimedia Commons, Wikidata,Wikiquote etc.26 Students responded that they only used Wikipedia. And in that 15 students used Wikipedia mainly for preparing school assignments.5 students used Wikipedia only for extended reading.
