What are these banners for?[edit]

The Wikipedia 20 Central Notice banners are designed to let readers know that Wikipedia is 20 years old. They are a tool for letting millions of site users know about the amazing community of editors who make Wikipedia and our free knowledge movement possible. A click on the banner links to a web hub that explains more about the history of Wikipedia, our movement, our related projects, and our values. Hosting this interactive hub on the Wikimedia Foundation site allows readers to take action in supporting our free knowledge mission.

The banner will read: "It is Wikipedia’s birthday! Thank you for making 20 years of free knowledge possible. Join the celebration."
