Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos contest in Benin 2021

The Wikipedia Pages Wanting Photos (WPWP) is an annual campaign where Wikipedians across Wikipedia language projects and communities add photos to Wikipedia articles lacking of images. This is to promote the use of digital media files collected from various Wikimedia photography contests, photowalks organized by the Wikimedia community, on Wikipedia article pages.

Main Objective

As Photos help to grasp the reader's attention better than a wall of text, illustrate content, and make the article more instructive and engaging for readers, We are organizing this year's campaign in Bénin to illustrate items that are not yet illustrated. By this way, a big gap will be filled. During this campaign, 1000 images will be inserted into existing articles and 20 new articles will be created on the Benin portal. This campaign concerns mainly the French Wikipedia project and the Fongbé Wikipedia incubator which will be considerably improved during the campaign.

Timeline

This campaign will be largely online and will run from July 1, 2021 through August 31, 2021. An award ceremony will be organized at the end of the campaign to reward the best photos and the best contributor.
