Proposal[edit]

a free hosting and development site for translations of different literature, including laws. modern ai/nn/ml translators can show any page in translation but their results are not checked by human and are not perfect. and their results are not found by all search engines, but only every company uses its own translators together with its own search.

as example, i would like to translate some laws of russia into tatar language, with google or yandex, and publish it. but where to publish it? in by wordpress blog? in my vk blog? in a separate site, maybe in a mediawiki? just html in separate site is not editable by others. mediawiki installed by me is editable by people but still that is not very easy for me to maintain in long term, because things like spam and dos protection, payment for hosting, to decide to whom to give it after my death. (but maybe i try that before this proposal is accepted and realised. that is an interesting idea to make a site to try to install ads. btw i have already seen several such sites. but they translated interesting content to many languages.)

as i know, it is only for original texts, and maybe for well known translations that were published by some authors, so they also are counted as originals. what i propose is for crowdsourced writing process of new translations. --QDinar (talk) 12:03, 18 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It would be nice for Wikisource to have a software update to facilitate translations. It already has an OCR (Optical Character Recognition) system, "Transcribe text", which quickly produces transcriptions for proof-reading by humans. Perhaps it could have a "Translate text" button to quickly produce a translation, which can then by checked by humans. But the place to discuss that is on Wikisource, not here. cagliost (talk) 11:05, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
yes. i see. i saw https://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Wikisource:What_Wikisource_includes#Translations , but i did not see that original translations are allowed. now, i see that. but they still have some limitations there: only one translation is allowed; original work should be present in wikisource; seems, if ready translations are available, creating new translation may not be allowed. Oppose Oppose, close and lock. If this user’s last proposal is any indication they will wikilawyer on technicalities despite being unanimously refuted— this is just an improvement to Wikisource. Dronebogus (talk) 01:01, 27 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
