Checkuser rights request

Commons

There is an three-week plus vote for the following administrators for Checkuser status at Commons:Administrators:

Please note that all three requests didn't reach the minimum of at least 25 supports within more than 3 weeks (normal nomination time on Commons is 1 week). --:Bdk: 19:52, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
Ausir has now reached 25 support votes. Also, note that requests for adminship on the Commons generally get less than 10 votes, so not getting 25 in 3 weeks is hardly surprising. (The last 6 admins to be promoted had 14, 10, 5, 6, and 5 votes, all unanimous.) Dbenbenn 23:33, 19 April 2006 (UTC)
There should be no compromise with CheckUser requests as a matter of principle IMO (the policy was debated in detail, and the minimum number was a part of it). If we don't want to create a precedent by accepting CU requests like this, we really should wait for another better vote sometimes in the future. Of course, you can wait just long enough and you'll crack the "25(-30)" for at least 2 users perhaps in another week, but would that be ok? And please note, that I'm not opposing none of the three users as persons nor CU for Commons generally. But imagine what could happen, if another Wikimedia project, let's say zh.wikipedia asks for CU with a vote of 18 supporters (instead of 20 here and min. 25 given by policy) ... projects where CU normally is seen as a more difficult and perhaps also political issue, and the next project will argue with 17, 16, 15 ... votes and its small community ^^... would you like to tell them, that the Commons vote simply broke ranks? I hope you can follow this consideration, which is thought in a more project wide way, not only focussed on Commons' interests. Anyway, there's no actual problem with not having users with CU access on Commons right now - you can always ask stewards in specific cases.
FTR: At the time of Bastique's above request, Dbenbenn had a number of 20, Arnomane of 21, and Ausir of 23 positive votes, each of them got one opposing vote.
PS: As I said before in some discussions, we definitely do need a clear specification of maximum duration of such votes for the CU policy. --:Bdk: 01:37, 20 April 2006 (UTC)
Just like to point out that there has been significant discussion of extending checkuser rights when the vote cout does not reach 25 users; there is currently a discussion on how to make checkuser available without relaxing standards at Talk:CheckUser Policy. No, because we are waiting for the PMS edition to be created by developers, so we have no local pages at all, yet. I actually thought it was better to stand in line early, but probably here things go much quicker than it happens (as I hear) with instance creation :) I'll put in a full request as soon as the instance is up. Hi everyone! I wanted to make a request to become a bureaucrat on the Bosnian Wiktionary. I've checked out if there is one there already and I've found that no user is a bureaucrat on that Wiktionary. I've also found out that there's only one sysop there that does not even have a talk page nor has he made contributions in more than a year (Live Forever's contributions). I am a native speaker of that language (Bosnian). I'm requesting this permission because I've noticed that there are many problems on the main page, such as the navigation links that do not lead anywhere and the structure of that Wiktionary itself. Unless ms:Pengguna:PM Poon & ms:Pengguna:Emrrans ask themselves to be desysopped on this page, I'm afraid that you have to show that some discussion took place about it on your local wiki and that there a community consensus to desysop them. Commons:User:Arnomane

There is no "community" on Commons, as Commons is an aggregate of several communities. Therefore the sentence "please gain consensus on this on your own wiki first" cannot apply to Wikimedia Commons.

Arnomane is having an aggressive behaviour by removing French pages without respecting the Commons:Commons:Deletion guidelines, and without trying to discus the issue with the French community beforehand. I disagree. As a sysop on Commons, I think that I can say that there is a community albeit a difficult one to get to do anything as it takes a bit of translation. ;-)
