Stewards grant bot status for accounts, but please remember - your bot must first be accepted by the local community. Please be sure to check the following bot policies before submitting a bot request:

  • The bot owner,

I, en:User:Stephen Turner, should like to request a bot flag for CricketBot. It identifies common errors in cricket-related articles on the English Wikipedia. All edits are checked by me before committing.

CricketBot was originally proposed at en:Wikipedia_talk:Bots#Proposed_cricket_bot and en:Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Cricket#CricketBot, and has been running since 16 November with no complaints, and positive feedback from WikiProject Cricket members. I (I mainly work as es:Usuario:FAR) want to run a bot called es:Usuario:Further (announced at es:Wikipedia:Café#Registro de nuevo bot too). second update: testing has been done also with ca: and lad:. User Chlewbot registered in all wikis. User dij Schdzjarvk registered in pl. third update: a minor complain in fr: has been solved. There have been so far no complains in any of the wikipedias. I have got two formal okays: sv: and zh: and one aproval: fi:.
While not formalized, I am pretty sure there is no opposition in my home wikipedia: es:.

I believe we're hanging fire until the bot's author tells us exactly what is going on - there's been some confusion understanding exactly what interwiki links the bot will be updating. Initially, we were led to believe that the bot would be updating five language's worth of interwiki links, but it transpires what the author intended was to have the bot updating all interwiki links on five Wikipedias. At the English Wikipedia, we have a policy whereby interwiki link bot's owners must understand the affected languages, so if the latter ends up being the objective here, then we may have a problem. You say it's updating the interwiki links for all languages? That conflicts with en-wiki's requirement that you understand the languages, I do believe. Might be best to hang fire a bit longer and see what people think back on en-wiki. Rob Church Talk 03:20, 2 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Gpvos, RobotJcb, Zwobot and Robbot at id.wikipedia in fact are interwiki bots without bot status. Please set bot status to those users. (Notes: Gpvos also interwiki bot in eo, la. RobotJcb in nl. Zwobot in de, sl. Robbot in fy, nl). Thanks Borgx 00:46, 9 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
