Voting will be by secret ballot (the names of voters and the candidates supported will not be posted on-wiki). The counting of votes will be conducted by an outside third-party organization Software in the Public Interest.

候選人

[edit]

候選人要喺二零零七年六月十號凌晨零時零分(UTC)同六月廿三號夜晚十一點五十九分之間,去 Meta 填妥報名表格。遲到就唔收。要競選,你必須符合三樣條件:

1. You must have been a contributor to at least one Wikimedia project for one year prior to June 1, 2007, as indicated by the date of the registered username's first edit, and must have completed at least 400 edits with the same account on the same project by June 1, 2007.

2. You must make your real name known and must be at least 18 years of age. (Because the identities of Board members are a matter of public record, it is not possible to hold a position on the Board of Trustees anonymously or under a pseudonym.)

3. You must obtain at least the required number of endorsements from eligible voters. Endorsements must be placed by the endorsers on the dedicated page during the candidate acceptance period.

Candidates will have up to two weeks to present themselves to the rest of the Wikimedia community through a candidate statement. Translation coordinators will translate the candidate statements into a number of languages before the beginning of the election. Candidates are advised that the earlier they submit their statements, the more likely that their statements will be translated into multiple languages before the start of the voting period.

選民

[edit]

To be eligible to vote, a user must have been a contributor to at least one Wikimedia project for three months prior to June 1, 2007 (that is, by March 1, 2007), as indicated by the date of the user's first edit, and must have completed at least 400 edits with the same account by June 1, 2007.

Voters may endorse up to three candidates. Candidates may make endorsements of two candidates other than themselves. Further instructions regarding endorsements can be found at endorsement page.

Users may not combine edits from different projects to reach the threshold of 400 required for voting eligibility: they must have 400 on a single project, and for voting and endorsing, the first edit with that account must have been made not less than three months before June 1, 2007; for candidacy, less than 1 year before June 1, 2007.

Even if you meet the requirement to vote from several projects, you may only vote with one of the accounts.

Voting eligibility is expanded

[edit]

Hello,
based on our recent discussions, in response to inquiries of people who have been working hard for the project but not meet the voting eligibility based on edit counts, and with the approval of the Wikimedia Board of Trustees, the Election Committee hereby announces expansion of voting eligibility to people in one of these categories:

A) Sysadmin: System administrators will be granted voting elgibility on request, if they had shell access to the Wikimedia servers prior to March 1, 2007 and have put in more than 50 hours in total before June 1, 2007. To request for granting vote, they should entry their name on a dedicated page on meta, Board elections/2007/Voting eligibility expansion.

B) Office staff: Staff who are working at the office of Wikimedia Foundation will be granted voting eligibility, if they worked for the Wikimedia Foundation in this manner prior to March 1, 2007. To request for granting vote, they should entry their name on a dedicated page on meta, Board elections/2007/Voting eligibility expansion.

C) Board of Trustees: All current Trustees (either elected or appointed) sitting on the Board of Trustees are defined to be eligible to vote.

We hope this will give the opportunity to vote to these members of the broader community.

Sincerely, Wikimedia Board Election Steering Committee, 09:42, 2 July 2007 (UTC)
