  • The rural women are engaged in various activities as part of their daily life, livelihood and traditions. This small pilot project is taken up by women Wikimedians at Vigyan Ashram, aims to document ‘Her Life’, ‘Her Skills’ and ‘Her Art’ through creative audio-visuals.

This is a short documentation project designed by Wikimedians at Vigyan Ashram under the ‘She Leads’ campaign. The members have finalized the following themes to document women’s life, skills and art in the form of photos, audios and videos. The team has identified different locations to document these aspects. The Wikimedians will interact with these different communities to explore the themes. They will also learn various technical skills during the process and the outputs would be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons.

  • A shephard woman's life
  • Cleaning of grain
  • Plastering of the wall and yard with dung & soil
  • Basket and article making using bamboo
  • Broom making

Expected Matrix or Outcomes from the Event/Activity planned

As a part of the Women's History Month activity, we are exploring rural women’s life, skills and art. The documentation will be done and the following outcomes would be uploaded on Wikimedia Commons -

  • Total no. of videos - 5
  • Total no. of audios - 5

  • This is a small pilot project to develop our team’s understanding about the women’s life, their skills and art in the underrepresented communities. The promotion of the documentation will be done through social media and Wikimedia awareness programs. The expansion of this activity will be planned after the discussions with other social groups and communities.

  • Travel - Rs. 3000 per visit = 5 visits x Rs.3000 = Rs.15,000/-
  • Food - Rs. 2000 per visit = 5 visits x Rs.2000 = Rs.10,000/-
  • Photo & Video documentation - Rs. 5000/- per topic = 5 topics x Rs.5000/- = Rs.25,000/-
  • Total budget = Rs.50,000/-
