Make enWiki templates available in deWiki as Vorlage

NoN Duplicate of Editing/Having an international / cross-wiki library of templates

  • Problem: Many enWiki-templates are unavailable in deWiki or have to be used with a strange syntax.
  • Who would benefit: Every editor who works in both Wikis.
  • Proposed solution: Simply take over the complete syntax of enWiki templates to deWiki Vorlagen.

Global templates need translation, and it's like writing the code and adding some translation marks. There can be global templates, in mediawikiwiki to translate, and a bot would update it crosswiki. The documentation should say "This is a template updated from mediawiki.org (or a site like template.wikimedia.org) by a bot. Do not edit this and edits/translations should be made in mediawiki.org." This was declined in a previous survey, as it was simply too large of a project for our team. See our FAQ for more information. This is however an ideal candidate for the new Larger suggestions category, where we advertise and allow voting on wishes for other teams and the broader movement's benefit, with the understanding there's no guarantee they will be implemented. I can say with great confidence, tough, that global templates is a very much wanted feature from pretty much everyone and their entire families. There were technical conferences with lots of people wearing "Global Templates" t-shirts :) But nonetheless there's good in showing our support to express it's urgency. I just think the proposal needs some rewording, first. @Nomen4Omen: Do you mind if I reword your proposal to be more technically sound? Also pinging Amire80 in case he wants to help. As we have not heard back from Nomen4Omen, we're going to select Having an international / cross-wiki library of templates as our "Global templates" wish and will put that into the Larger suggestions category.
