Wikimedia India chapter is an official Wikimedia chapter, in addition there are various Wikimedia user groups e.g Wikipedia Club Pune. Wiki Loves Monuments was run in Indian in 2012 and 2013.

The list of protected monuments of national importance can be accessed through Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). State protected monuments are under state archaeology departments which can be accessed through their websites.
