2021 onwards[edit]

The work to revitalize the initiative started in August 2021 with the launch of the Content Partnerships Hub and the work on Strategic data uploads. The work to import Wiki Loves Monuments data into Wikidata and identify additional built heritage databases continues.

The 2016-2017 project[edit]

The project started on January 1st 2016 and ran until September 30th 2017. During the first half of 2016 the focus was on contacting countries with immovable cultural heritage data that could be imported, to prepare the existing Monumental database for a migration to Wikidata and to prepare a photo exhibition. In the second half of 2016 and the first half of 2017 work was done to migrate the database and to batch upload media files to Wikimedia Commons. Outreach to governments, experts and community volunteers took place during the full duration of the project, with the photo exhibition as part of the outreach activities.

Events[edit]

Below is a list of events that we looked into as possible events for us to participate in as part of the project. The ones that we planned on to participate in were marked in green.

We also included events that we looked into, but that we in the end decided not to participate in for different reasons. They are included only for transparency and are marked in red. The white rows are for events we have identified but not yet decided upon.

Please let us know if you think that we should re-evaluate some of the events or if we have missed an important event!
