Project Overview

The project aims at creating a space and promoting equitable inclusion for the members of the Nigerian language Wikimedia community ( Igbo and Igala) and Ghanaian language Wikimedia communities (Dagbani, Dagaare, Gurene, and Moore) to encourage collaborative and digital universality. This iteration of the Movement Charter Conversation in the West African region, will be a collaborative effort that would aid in engaging and informing these community members about the movement charter and its contents, educating them on the details of the Movement’s governance and the processes involved. With a focus on the 4th Recommendation, Initiative 24, the conversation would be channeled toward sharing insights on the Movement Charter and Equity Decision-making. This would go a long way to keep them abreast and well-informed on the WMF governance documentation and how their voices can be heard.

PROJECT GOAL

The project centers around Movement Strategy Initiative 24 (Equity in Decision Making), aiming to educate and inform members of both the Ghanaian and Nigerian Wikimedia communities, as well as newly joined members, about the Movement Charter document in its entirety. Additionally, it seeks to enlighten them on Movement Strategy Initiative 24, providing guidance on how, when, and where to share their perspectives

1. Translation of untranslated Movement Charter Pages on Meta into Igala, Dagbani, Moore, and Dagaare languages. Done
2. Initial General Online conversation for both Nigeria and Ghana Wikimedia communities. Done
3. Respective online conversation for Ghana and Nigeria Wikimedia communities. Done
4. Feedback and brief writing (to be collated on a designated etherpad) Done
