What problem does this solve?

[edit]

This pattern is a classic, however, I didn't find it while searching.

If you are moving around internationally, don't underestimate the need for local knowledge.

What is the solution?

[edit]

When organizing an event, a lot of local knowledge is needed. This local knowledge is most likely found in people local to your event location. Hence, choose location by the amount of local support you can find. If you can't find any, think twice before going there!

Things to consider

[edit]

Local knowledge can mean a lot of things. It includes, but is not limited to:

  • the actual location
  • public transport to and from
  • hotel and housing access nearby
  • solutions for people on a small budget
  • quality of support to hire
  • local business practices

When to use
