Budget breakdown[edit]

Estimated breakdown of expenses based on an exchange rate of $1=224 HUF:[1]

  • Projector: about $770[2]
  • Screen: about $230[3]
  • Total amount requested: $1000

  1. This budget is based on estimates prepared for a grant of the Hungarian National Civil Fund covering operational costs where, as a young organization, we have received less than requested ($900 instead of $2200) and thus that grant will not cover a projector.
  2. Based on the 150-200 000 HUF price range of the projectors used at a Budapest university that meet the criteria of being lightweight enough, having a high enough resolution and powerful enough light, as well as, good compatibility with different computers and screen resolutions.
  3. A projection screen costs about 50 000 HUF.

Project scope[edit]

We will buy a portable digital projector with a projection screen.

Project goal[edit]

The goal of this project is to be able to hold presentations regardless of the local availability of a projector thus enhancing our area of operation and the professionalism of all other events.

Non-financial requirements[edit]

None.

Fit to strategy[edit]

We see this project as contributing to our efforts to increase participation and quality (by being used in introductory presentations or meetups organized for editing Wikimedians showcasing advanced editing techniques). Having a projector would be very helpful when we are presenting the results of our various competitions (especially the ones involving pictures) and also at our AGMs to present our annual reports, financial data, proposed amendments to the bylaws etc.; we believe these capabilities would contribute to our organizational maturity and effectiveness.

Other benefits[edit]

The projector is a long time investment that will bring benefits for a long time and requires relatively little maintenance.

Measures of success[edit]

The quantitative way to measure the success of this project is to count the number of times it is used, the qualitative way evaluates the contexts of use.

We already see three events in the grant time frame where we would like to have a projector (our August WikiCamp, a special general assembly in November, and our AGM Q1-2 2011; based on the venue, possibly at the WikiConference in January).

We will consider this project a success if we can use the projector more than 3 times including our official events, Wikimedia workshops and meetings and standalone presentations.
