The community seeks to apply for an annual planning fund from the Wikimedia Foundation to help advance it’s objectives and projects in 2024.

Our annual project plan is pegged on community building, which we have identified as essential towards building a sustainable Wikimedia community in line with the movement strategy 2030.

  • In additional to the community building activities that involve strategy meetings we will also be prioritizing four global campaigns. The activities around the campaigns will include photo walks, edit-a-thon and workshops.
  • The campaigns will help us shrink Africa`s content gaps on Wikipedia and its sister projects and also help us bridge the gender gaps which is a key, objective for our community.

We have a core team of four that is providing leadership for the Usergroup. Each of the campaign will also be assigned a project lead. Community organizers who have lead the campaigns in the past will lead the project and will work with a supporting member to ensure knowledge transfer.

  • We plan to recruit a Social media intern to manage our social media accounts as part of our brand advocacy. They will earn a monthly stipend as indicated in the budget.
