  • The project also brings new like-minded volunteer editors and photographers through different outreach programs, photo-walk, national butterfly meets etc.
  • WLB has been extended to conduct workshops with school teachers and bring school children to help them understand the importance of conservation of nature.

  • Wiki Loves Butterfly helps to bring Wikimedia contents in the form of articles, data and photographs related to butterfly taxons available in the eastern and north eastern part of India.
  • The high quality photographs of life cycle, morphology, habitat of live butterflies will continue to be taken by amateur and expert photographers in deep jungles, national parks, tiger reserves etc. and after proper scientific identification, they will be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons and relevant articles and data created on Wikipedia and Wikidata respectively.
  • Optimal results shall be achieved by sending multiple teams led by experienced team members during favorable seasons and weather conditions for the butterflies. To overcome challenges of weather hazards and natural calamity, transportation difficulties and safety and security of the team members in these remotest places will be overcome by collaborative rapport with the local enthusiasts and the officials of the concerned forest departments and sharing of information on a regular basis.
  • Strict adherence to and dedicated implementation of our plans and strategies have been the keys behind the success of our project. Tasks will be allocated after thorough discussions among the team members, which ensures smooth running of plans in every phase of WLB Project.
  • To sustain the healthy future growth and workability of the project, new volunteers are in constant requirements. So, photo-walks at different hotspots to attract butterfly enthusiasts will be arranged to find new interested volunteers.
  • Extensive and perpetual outreach programs will be executed engaging school children and teachers to inspire, mentor and educate them about the importance of conservation of nature and free knowledge movement including Wikimedia.
  • Partnership and collaboration with special interest groups, resource persons, and reputed scientific organizations will be kept up to bring quality and more resources to the project.
  • Still unexplored areas in the eastern and north eastern India will get a foothold and shall be documented thoroughly.
  • The project will adhere to the support, guidance and suggestions of the West Bengal Wikimedians User Group.
  • Proper handling of our social media platforms for better promotion of WLB Project and Wikimedia movement will be done to inspire mass awareness about our digital conservation of the ways and means of the world of butterflies.
  • All these policies and strategies shall be more perfected in the 2nd year ensuring a steady development over the currently proposed phase.
