- 12. Will you be working with any internal (Wikimedia) or external partners? Describe the characteristics of these partnerships and bring a few examples of the most significant partnerships. (required)
Wikimedia Israel fosters strategic partnerships with diverse partners from the public, business, and philanthropic sectors. This is done to realize the vision of creating, accessing, and critically consuming free content; expanding its influence; and cultivating an active community of contributors. These partnerships are based on shared values and the ability to address needs in the field and provide added value to the partners involved. We believe that partnerships are a goal in themselves, as they enable mutual fertilization, serve as multipliers of force to achieve common goals, yield more and better results, enable enjoyment and creation, and serve as a means of strengthening Wikimedia Israel as a sustainable association.
We maintain a wide range of partnerships, which differ from one another in terms of the level of involvement, duration, and the extent of their impact on the organization's activities. These partnerships range from temporary and focused collaborations to long-term strategic partnerships. We are constantly working to expand and deepen our network of partnerships, focusing on developing strategic partnerships that will help us improve the quality of the content produced in our projects and attract new audiences. We invest significant resources in developing and nurturing these partnerships, understanding that they are a critical component of our success and the fulfillment of our mission.
Our work in the education system provides an example of a partnership in which we operate with all the means within the system, thereby increasing our impact on the field. The partnership with the Arab education system and the partnership with the Hebrew education system both testify to the significant impact of collaborations on promoting free knowledge in Hebrew and Arabic. Each of these partnerships has unique characteristics, but what they have in common is that they are long-term strategic partnerships involving senior officials in the Ministry of Education or schools, which dramatically contributes to the success of our education programs and their expansion from year to year.
Our partnership with Tel Aviv University as part of an academic excellence program for youth is an excellent example of a strategic partnership that allows us to invest in youth with excellent writing potential now and in the future as adults, and to expose them to the world of creating free content on Wikipedia. The success of this collaboration encourages us to seek additional partnerships with academic institutions and youth excellence institutions, in order to expand the accessibility of free knowledge on science-related topics.
Our partnership with the academic community is an example of innovation in education. This collaboration encourages lecturers and students to be active partners in creating knowledge and enables the accessibility of high-quality knowledge to the general public. Our collaboration with lecturers who have chosen the "Wikipedia in Academia" program as a significant teaching tool attests to the success of this initiative. The partnerships we currently have are not few, but they mainly take place at the level of individual lecturers. We aspire to expand the partnerships so that the work is done with academic institutions. For example, in 2024 we succeeded in creating an institutional partnership with the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Haifa. As part of this partnership, an introductory course to Wikipedia will be developed by the association's staff, will be included in the faculty's elective courses, and will grant students who participate in it two credit points. We see this institutional partnership as a significant breakthrough towards a deep and extensive presence in the halls of academia.
Another style of productive partnership is a "train" partnership: These are significant relationships that are time-limited, intensive, and designed for a specific audience. These partnerships take place within our courses program. One of the core areas of this program is Wikipedia editing courses for selected target audiences, such as retirees, people with disabilities, women, independent media, academics, and more. The organizations that partner with us approach their target audiences and offer them to participate in the course, sometimes with full or partial subsidies. These organizations take on processes such as branding and design, marketing, recruitment, registration, and contact with candidates, and sometimes involvement in the learning processes. These partnerships have been found to be efficient in time and resources, more accurate in content, and produce a very high number of articles and editors. In the past year, we have recorded a tens of percent increase in the number of editing courses, thanks in part to these collaborations. Another achievement we have recorded within the framework of the courses program is the existence of collaborations with organizations across the country, which can contribute significantly to the advancement and fulfillment of Wikimedia Israel's mission

Additional information
[edit]- 22. In this optional space you can add any other additional information about your proposal or organization that you think can help us when reviewing your proposal. (optional)
We would like to emphasize to the regional committee that Wikimedia Israel is investing significant efforts in initiating, managing, and promoting activities in both Arabic and Hebrew. This is despite the terrible war that has been raging for nearly a year. Our team is a diverse one, with Arabs and Jews working together. Despite the inherent conflict that could have led to dysfunction, the opposite is true. We are leading strategic processes of growth, development, and inclusion of all Israeli residents from a variety of cultures and languages. We are very proud of our work and, against all odds, we are operating out of a sense of mission and belief in the vision of free content for all. We hope that you will be able to see the full picture in which we are operating when you make your decision regarding this grant. Thank you very much
