Our strategies for the Year one includes but not limited to: ntroduce Wikimedia projects to more Igbo people that are literate in the Igbo language at any level.

  • Maintain and grow the Igbo Wiki community worldwide.
  • Mentor and improve skills of community members
  • Work towards the growth and development of other Igbo language Wikimedia projects.
  • Promotion of topics related to Igbo language, culture and community.
  • Cooperate with local authorities, organizations and individuals to promote free knowledge through Wikimedia projects

With these strategies, we'll be focusing on:

  • Organizing edit-a-thons to increase the number of articles on the Igbo projects. (Wikipedia, Wikisource, Wikiquote, Wiktionary)
  • Training new editors on how to contribute to Wikimedia projects.
  • Outreach events to promote the Igbo Wikipedia and other Wikimedia projects.
  • Mentorship and skills improvement of existing and new community members.
  • Collaborating with other organizations to promote the Igbo language and culture.
  • Partnering with tertiary institutions to introduce Wikimedia in Education while recruiting more young people.
  • Community development and cohesion to ensure sustainable growth.

These activities will span to the Year 2 and 3 with some changes which would factor in the Wiki Mentor Africa program going back to being funded by the community as the grant period with the WMDE expires.

  • Develop a new training program for Igbo Wikipedia contributors.

User: Tochiprecious - Who is an experienced Project and Program Manager would lead the team as a Project/Program Manager. She would be salaried.

2. User: Kingsley Nkem - Communications Facilitator experienced and salaried.
3. User: Olugold - Program Assitant who is experienced in program and community management will assist in programs as well as community and hub coordination.
4. User: Ceslause Okechukwu - Partnership consultant this would be salaried but on contract.

For the duration of this funding period, we hope to work together with the Kenya, Sudan Wikipedia community in terms of cultural collaboration. This is in line with advocacy and doesn't involve funding, payments, donations etc.
