1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

We hired a programmer to develop our translation dashboard and related tools. We reached out to organizations involved in volunteer translation.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Having a paid programmer was key to the success of this effort.

Translation done as part of the WPM translation taskforce in 2023.

Our efforts during the Fund period have helped to...
A. Bring in participants from underrepresented groups Much of our work was carried out in under represented languages including Odia, South Azerbaijani and Malay.
B. Create a more inclusive and connected culture in our community The efforts built up collaboration between Wiki Med and 32 language versions of Wikipedia
C. Develop content about underrepresented topics/groups We worked on healthcare content which is poorly available in most languages other than English
D. Develop content from underrepresented perspectives We concentrated on Women's health topics and part of our work was adjusting the dashboard to help us have specific campaigns on topics. This functionality is now working well.
E. Encourage the retention of editors We have built tools to allow us to easily email prior editors and send out encouragement to those involved.
F. Encourage the retention of organizers The tools build makes the work of organizers significantly easier.

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

We have further developed our collaboration with our programmer contractor. And we onboarded a number of other organizations to the dashboard

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities?This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

Efforts went as planned.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

We are bringing on a paid "coordinator of volunteers" to help us with recruitment and meshing the systems we built with those of other NGOs in the translation space. This individual will also play a key roll in being a first point of contact if volunteers run into issues.

Wikimania 2023 - Relaunch of Healthcare Translation

We spoke about the efforts at Wikimania in Singapore. Video attached. We also invited all 3,235 volunteers who previously worked with us to rejoin and distributed Barnstars to all participants.
