Part 1 Understanding your work

1. Briefly describe how your proposed activities and strategies were implemented

We implemented our proposed activities and strategies by first focusing on making Adiutor multilingual. We collaborated with translatewiki.net to facilitate translations into various languages, making Adiutor more accessible to users from different linguistic backgrounds. Additionally, we centralized all configurations related to Adiutor to streamline localization for individual wikis. Extensive documentation was created for all modules and configurations to empower users. We also established a Telegram group with 48 members to foster community support and collaboration. Adiutor was successfully adapted to several Wikimedia projects, including Azerbaijani Wikipedia, French Wikipedia, Hungarian Wikipedia, Georgian Wikipedia, Serbian Wikipedia, Turkish Wikipedia, Uzbek Wikipedia, and Wikimedia Commons. New features and improvements were introduced to enhance the user experience and editor efficiency. In addition to all this, the communities were contacted for cooperation, and authorization was requested for the adaptation of Adiutor, The communities agreed to this and we personally installed the wikis for which we received temporary authorization. The local communities were mostly on board with the idea of this innovation, which put us one step ahead.

2. Were there any strategies or approaches that you felt were effective in achieving your goals? Please describe these strategies and approaches.

Additionally, we made substantial improvements in the user experience by streamlining the configuration process for Adiutor. This involved centralizing the configuration efforts, making it easier for individual wikis to customize and localize Adiutor according to their specific needs.

Our efforts bore fruit as Adiutor seamlessly integrated into various Wikimedia projects, making significant contributions to platforms such as Azerbaijani Wikipedia, French Wikipedia, Hungarian Wikipedia, Georgian Wikipedia, Serbian Wikipedia, Turkish Wikipedia, Uzbek Wikipedia, and Wikimedia Commons. These integrations were not static; we continued to introduce new features and improvements, constantly enhancing both the user experience and editor efficiency across these platforms.

In addition to these remarkable accomplishments, we proactively engaged with the respective Wikimedia communities. Our aim was to secure their cooperation and authorization for the adaptation of Adiutor. Fortunately, our outreach was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, and we took the initiative to personally oversee the installation of Adiutor on the wikis for which we received temporary authorization. This enthusiastic reception from local communities not only validated our efforts but also propelled our innovation forward, firmly establishing us as leaders in this dynamic field.

Part 2: Your main learning

6. In your application, you outlined your learning priorities. What did you learn about these areas during this period?

During this period, we learned that collaboration with communities is pivotal for making software tools like Adiutor multilingual. Centralizing configurations is an effective strategy for localization and adaptability to different wikis. Extensive documentation enhances user understanding and adoption of the tool. Establishing community support groups like the Telegram group fosters engagement and collaboration among users. In addition, we are very honored to be included in the innovation component of the Wikimedia Foundation's 2030 strategy.

7. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities?This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences?

We were both pleasantly surprised and excited by the overwhelming interest from various communities in our tool. We received significant interest from communities we had intended to collaborate with and even some we hadn't initially considered. Furthermore, the rapid growth of our Telegram group, now boasting 48 members, was a delightful revelation. The remarkable level of engagement and support within the community far surpassed our expectations, underscoring a profound interest in Adiutor. This unanticipated positive outcome has served as a valuable lesson, highlighting the immense potential of community building.

8. How do you hope to use this learning? For instance, do you have any new priorities, ideas for activities, or goals for the future?

We plan to use this learning to further improve Adiutor and its adaptation to different Wikimedia projects. We will continue collaborating with the other Wikimedia communities, centralizing configurations, and prioritizing extensive documentation. Building and nurturing a strong user community will remain a focus, and we will explore additional ways to enhance user experiences.
