Application type: Standard application

Part 1: Project and impact

1. Describe the implemented activities and results achieved. Additionally, share which approaches were most effective in supporting you to achieve the results. (required)

This project "Operation Increase Ibibio Articles" was very successful. It was held in Uyo, the capital city of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria, just like the other activities we have hosted. On the day of the project, we, the non-recognized Ibibio Group (in the process of applying for official status) brought together the Ibibio language native speakers, trained them for the project and the in-turn contributed to the growth of our community in-order to boost our chances of obtaining our own domain.

Amongst the old editors, there were also new ones that joined for the first time. For the new participants that were joining for the first time, they were trained, they created a new account and joined the other old editors. For the old editors, a refresher course was done for them. During the project, articles were created on Ibibio Wikipedia on Incubator.

We gave the editors certificates and souvenirs at the end of the project. Also, top 5 editors were awarded with prizes and awards to increase their motivation to continue contributing. The new editors were added to our groups and we're currently engaging them. We also encouraged all the editors to continue editing even at the end of the project.

We conducted an outing to recruit potential editors. During the outing, we shared flyers to recruit the participants, and those who indicated interest were sent an online form in order to collect their data for the proper registration of the project.

Part 2: Learning

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: Through the "Operation Increase Ibibio Articles" project, we hope to see how the Ibibio Wikipedia on Incubator advances to the next stage of growth and representation with the addition of more articles. We also want to know how our plans to participate in an outing or mini-rally before the project begins will impact the success of our group's objectives.

Through the implementation of the project, we learnt that our collaborative approach fostered a welcoming environment, engaging existing members and attracting many new members to our community, which in turn increased our article count significantly. We also learnt that regular monitoring and feedback mechanisms help ensure consistency and accuracy. Through the outing that we held ahead of the project, we noted that it helped team cohesion and motivation and also raised awareness about the project's objectives and importance and attracted potential volunteers. These strategies will of course inform our future initiatives.

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

Due to the outing that we had before the project, many Ibibio native speakers indicated interest in participating in our projects. The feedback we received was very surprising and we didn't expect it.

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

Due to the outing that we had before the project, many Ibibio native speakers indicated interest in participating in our projects. The feedback we received was very surprising and we didn't expect it.
