Change: We are fostering a collaborative relationship between the Ghanaian Wikimedia community and the National Folklore Board to significantly increase Ghanaian folklore and living heritage content on Wikimedia platforms (Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons).

Why it's Important: 1. Increased Access to Knowledge: This collaboration will enrich Wikimedia projects with valuable Ghanaian cultural heritage, making it accessible to a global audience for education and enjoyment. 2. Empowering Local Voices: By training National Folklore Board staff on Wikimedia tools, we empower them to contribute directly and ensure their expertise informs the documentation of Ghanaian heritage. 3. Sustainability: The pilot campaign utilizing the national inventory contributes to the "Wiki Loves Living Heritage" projects, aligning with the 2030 movement strategy's focus on sustainability by establishing a long-term system for content contribution. 4. Equity: This collaboration addresses the 2030 strategy's goal of ensuring equity in decision-making by bringing together established institutions and community volunteers to create a comprehensive record of Ghanaian heritage.

We are working on building a relationship between the Ghanaian Wikimedia community and the National Folklore Board. As part of this effort, we will organize a series of capacity-building workshops to introduce staff from the National Folklore Board to Wikimedia projects. Over the years, the Wikimedia communities in Ghana have organized several photography competitions and photo walks to contribute folklore and living heritage related continents from Ghana to Wikimedia projects such as Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons.

In 2023, we are invited to contribute to UNESCO ICH reports which were implemented by the National Folklore Board and UNESCO Ghana. The report was largely based on contributions of national inventories and ICH elements by Wikimedia Wikimedia volunteers in Ghana as part of the Wiki Loves Living heritage projects. After the capacity-building training and workshop sessions, we will pilot a national campaign to contribute content to the Wiki Loves Living Heritage projects by adding more images to Ghana's national inventory
