Part 2: Learning

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: How can free access to knowledge about flooding, soil erosion, and excessive rain bring behavioural change among local South Sudanese people that helps protect the environment? How would the availability of climate change information in Dinka and Nuer impact readership in South Sudan? What is the barrier to information access relating to climate change in South Sudan

I learned that;

Information availability plays a vital role in the locals' decision-making. We had a couple of case studies in training, and the participants showed that this whole idea seemed foreign before understanding the actions they could take against climate change. Now that they know, they feel more accountable for taking action.

2. Little climate change information is available in Dinka and Nuer, which will impact the content consumption by the citizens of South Sudan, hence the deliberate need for its creation. 3. There is a barrier to easy information access about climate change in South Sudan since most of the content is in English and also with hard terminologies, which brings us to again deliberate on the local Wikipedia that we have

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

I didn't expect the participants to quickly understand the concept of climate change and the actions around it since it is a topic that has a lot of terminologies, but since we were explaining most locally, a couple of participants even gave their own experiences with the things we shared and what they want to do to take care of their environment the sense of responsibility arose immediately and the need to document such by writing it in Wikipedia or taking photos to commons, so that was very unexpected for me.

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

I will write a simple report for them but also share the learnings via infographics on our WhatsApp group and social media.
