We successfully conducted four trainings/edit-a-thons and extra two meet-ups for the launching of fan clubs as planned. The trainings were conducted in two of the six states in north eastern part of Nigeria involving Yobe and Gombe states. Following are the some of the designed strategies we find more effective during the implementation of this project:

  • Media Publicity: Collaboration with Fulfulde language media outlets helps alot in alerting the targeted individuals who benefited from the training. Graphics/poster designs used on Social media platforms also played a vital in arising the curiosity of majority of the Fula speakers in the region where the trainings were conducted.
  • Open Documentation: we kept records of each participant including their phone numbers through both manual and Online forms. This helps us find it easy in assigning each participant to their respective group leaders and fan club/network associates.
  • Scope/Area of Focus: The organizing team put heads together in prioritizing the themes/area of focus to make the editing enjoyably easy for the participants in one hand and also help in covering underrepresented topics on Fulfulde Wikipedia.

Part 2: Learning[edit]

4. In your application, you outlined some learning questions. What did you learn from these learning questions when you implemented your project? How do you hope to use this learnings in the future? You can recall these learning questions below. (required)

You can recall these learning questions below: 1. We wish to learn whether regular meet-ups would help strengthen the spirit of contributions enormously among editors and boost their spiritual level for group/teamwork.

2. One of our identified problems through previous events was improving the retention rate of recruited participants, so we wish to know whether our devised solution of having trainings on regular basis is enough to tackle the problem.
3. We wish to learn whether through this event, editing of Wikimedia projects in Fulfulde language will be sustained enough and more group of contributors will be trained.
4. We will also wish to learn what can be done to improve awareness about Fulfulde Wikipedia in our community to prepare us for more greater impacts in our subsequent projects.

1. We truly understand that Fula Wikipedia editors are more active/high spirited when there's an ongoing project judging from the fact that, the Fula Wikipedia page views metric as well as number of new created aricles rised rapidly than the previous two weeks before the project was implemented. As can be seen on the Pageviews site here

2. The idea for lauching Fan Clubs initiated in this project has help us in making it so easy to retained the participants.
3. We saw it clearly how these fan clubs were aiming at each other with the goal of doing what it takes to be the best. Each group were encouraging their members to do more and that help in achieving this great success that can be witnessed from the outcome of the project.
4. More experience and enlightment is necessary as there are still those who need to understand how the Wikipedia principles work and the Wikimedia movement general community in a broader term.

5. Did anything unexpected or surprising happen when implementing your activities? This can include both positive and negative situations. What did you learn from those experiences? (required)

Actually, nothing unexpected happened. Everything goes as planned.

6. What is your plan to share your project learnings and results with other community members? If you have already done it, describe how. (required)

The results was shared with the general and the sub-groups of the Fulfulde Wikimedians Community together with the newly lauched fan clubs/networks
