Project Goal
[edit]The project aims to making the movement charter documentation more accessible to the Yoruba-speaking Native by translating the key materials especially the updates, recommendations and conversations in the wikimedia community to the local language. With an overall objective to make community awareness and engagement in the Wikimedia Movement Charter, by contributing to movement recommendation of equity in decision making and collecting feedbacks as way forward, this will foster collaborative effort and involvement in governance and decision making process in the movement strategy. The project will help members of our community, the Osun Wikimedian Community to fully understands the movement strategy and the need for every member to contribute to the movement and also enable our community members to contribute effectively.

Project Background
[edit]- When do you intend to begin this project and when will it be completed?
- We intend to start by September 2, 2023 and finish by October 7, 2023.

- Virtually and On-site
- Are you collaborating with other communities or affiliates on this project? Please provide details of how partners intend to work together to achieve the project goal.
- We intend on working with Community Members in Osun Wikimedian Community.
- What specific challenge will your project be aiming to solve? And what opportunities do you plan to take advantage of to solve the problem?
- We are aiming to ensure that our communities are fully engaged in conversations about the governance of the movement, especially on equity in the decision making processes which directly affect the communities including barriers to international languages and the culture to read and write in local languages, we will ensure that translations are done professionally and bring in context the movement charter and discussions will evolve around a shared translation process in the community.
- We aim to address the language barrier first by making accessible the materials and from these we will tackle the awareness challenge which is associated to the knowledge in movement regulations and opportunities available.
- Does this project aim to apply one of the examples shared in the call for grants and if so which one?
- Yes, the community members who participated in the outreach Campaign will be ask to give thier feedback, the feedback will be collected in form of survey to better understand thier understanding about recommendations on the Movement strategy in the Charter, this will allow more informed decision making process in the future.
Project Activities

- Community Engagement:
Outreach: While we are working on translations, we will make sure to reach out to the communities and inform them about the upcoming engagements.
- MCDC community workshop: We will host an initial 90 minute workshop. This workshop will be about sharing the details of the Movement Charter with our community members. We will share practical examples of why their contribution to the Movement Charter discussions is important.
- MCDC community conversation: We will host another 90 minute conversation session with our community members to discuss a shared plan and approach for how we engage in Movement Charter discussions.

- RukayatAjeigbe :will be the Coordinator, She will be responsible for the major activities of the project, including receiving the grants funds, writing the grants report, and implementing the project.
- OTim75: He will mobilize members, collate contributions, disseminate reports, create awareness about the program. He will ensure that every member have enough notices and opportunity to contribute fully throughout the program.

- Yoruba Language: To be done by the Community Members. The materials will be translated into the Yoruba Language, as our community is a Yoruba-speaking community and they communicate in native English as well.

- Movement Strategy and Implementation Grants Coordinator: Will be responsible for the major activities of the project, including receiving the grants funds, writing the grants report, and coordinating between the other collaborators.
- Translator: The community member will be working to translate Movement Strategy pages to our languages.
- Outreach & Awareness: Another community member will distribute the translated documents to introduce our community to Movement Strategy and Implementation Grants
Outcomes
[edit]After your activities are complete, we would like to understand the draft implementation plan for your community. You will be required to prepare a document detailing this plan around a movement strategy initiative. This report can be prepared through Meta-wiki using the Share your results button on this page. The report can be prepared in your language, and is not required to be written in English.
In this report, you will be asked to:
- Provide a link to the draft implementation plan document or Wikimedia page
- Describe what activities supported the development of the plan
- Describe how and where you have communicated your plan to relevant communities.
- Report on how your funding was spent
Your draft implementation plan document should address the following questions clearly:
- What movement strategy initiative or goal are you addressing?
- What activities will you be doing to address that initiative?
- What do you expect will happen as a result of your activities? How do those outcomes address the movement strategy initiative?
- How will you measure or evaluate your activities? What tools or methods will you use to evaluate your activities?
To create a draft implementation plan, we recommend the use of a logic model, which will help you and your team think about goals, activities, outcomes, and other factors in an organized way. Please refer the following resources to develop a logic model:

- Support This project is targeted to ensure the growth and sustainability of Youth-led Wikimedia communities in Osun State and also collect feedbacks from the community members through the Movement Strategy discussions, and recommendations. Thier contributors has led to increase in contributions and participation in various Wikimedia campaign and contest.
