Project Plan[edit]

  1. What kind of event(s) or activities are you planning to hold for your Wikipedia 20 event? Please let us know if these events include a meetup, edit-a-thons, workshops, photo walks, contests, or any kind of campaign.
I'm in contact with one of the coordinators of youth associations in the city. And I did discuss with them the possibility to train their association members on how to become editors on Wikipedia. They are OK with it and are waiting for it. They'll be in charge of selecting 5 individuals from 5 different associations located in 6 communes of the city.
This is what we want to achieve with this project:
    • create awareness for Wikipedia in youth associations
    • achieve a total of 3 active editors from youth associations
    • participation of at least 5 individuals in the WMDRC - UG weekly meetups
    • installation for Wikipedia offline reader on at least 30 devices
Our training agenda will be as follow:

  2. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)
Yes. I'm self a longtime editor, plus members of the Wikimedians of DRC - UG who are willing to support this new partnership with youth associations. Some experienced editors that might be supporting the project are:
    • Yves Madika: a longtime wikimedian and co-founder of WMDRC - UG, he will be discussing, remotely, the history of Wikipedia
    • WINEUR and VALENTIN NVJ: wikimedians from DRC, they'll be guiding offline session (with Kiwix software).
  3. If participants will be contributing to Wikimedia projects (such as in an edit-a-thon), do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high-quality content? If not, how will you support them? (If you are not doing this kind of event, please write N/A or leave the section below blank)
Yes, everyone will be using their laptop and/or phone
  4. How will you promote and let participants know about your Wikipedia 20 event? Please describe or link to the spaces you will be using to inform your community about your activities. Please note there are resources available to support your communications for Wikipedia 20 events.
we'll be using social media (as usual) plus print flyers that will be distributed to people to let them know about our project...
  5. How will you keep participants engaged after the event is over? How will you be sharing photos, videos, or other content from your activities after they are completed?
We'll make a connection with the local community of experienced editors. Photos will be uploaded on Commons.
  6. Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
  7. Please confirm below that you have listed your event on the WP20 page on Meta-wiki.
  8. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?
This is a great opportunity to engage many editors from youth volunteer associations
