Project Plan

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

The Gurene Wikimedia Community is a new group that is currently ran on the Gurene Incubator focused on digitizing the culture and writing content in the Gurene language, increase the interest of youth(both female and male) to contribute to Wikipedia and its sister projects. The Wiki Hub has a few experienced Wikimedians and majority of the membership are yet to sign up onto Wikipedia. The following will be done during the training sessions:
  • Registration of new editors.
  • We are going to have 3 training sessions and 3 editathon to practice what has been learnt during the training sessions.
  • We will practice by creating Wikidata items for Gurene books and notable personalities from the Upper East Region. This, when done will push up the existence of Gurene language literature on the internet.

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.
You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

Yes. The community members will be engaged about it on the Gurene social media plats on WhatsApp and Telegram. The following groups were also informed;

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

Participants will be contacted using the WhatsApp and Telegram group.

  4. Prof. Ephraim Avea - Gurenɛ language professional and expert
  5. Akakiiri - He holds a Master degree in Gurenɛ and will provide language expertise too

5. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

Yes, participants have the equipments and few of them have the needed skills to take part in project. This will be the first time most of the participants will experience skills in Wikipedia training, at the end of the training participants will be well equipped with the necessary skills to contribute to Wikipedia.

6. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?
