1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

Yes,My team and I would be training newbies on how to edit various articles before the project commence

2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions.

I would let people of the community know about the project through The Wikimedia Ghana User Group Mailing list and also information would be provided on the various social media platform like facebook, Google, twitter+, whatsapp, Instagram and so on.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event?

Yes

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them?

No, participant would be train and guided in other to get the skills and knowledge required for this event,with the support of Wikimedia Ghana User Group

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)?

Participant will be engaged in wikipedia activities by providing them with updates on various wikimedia project and also assist participant in case they faces any challenges.

6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

The project is focused on how Ghanaian Movies and TV Series goes wiki (GMGW). The event would take place in three thematic belts thus the Southern belt (Accra, Cape Coast etc) the event would be dubbed I Told You So Moment, The Middle Belt (Kumasi, Brong- Ahafo etc) the event would be dubbed Kwaku Anase Moment and The Northern Belt(Tamale, Bolgtanga,Wa etc) dubbed Tamale Moment. In these areas content would be provided with the movies they have in the region. The reason why I would want to embark on this project is because when you check on Wikipedia list of article for Ghanaian movies or TV Series weather old or new you would not find any featured article related to Ghanaian Movie or TV series on Wikipedia at the moment, but when you wants insight about the movies/tv series of other industry like Americas & Europe you get more information on their Wikipedia pages provided online.

Also this project is one of a kind because its supports the achievements of Wikimedia's mission


Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  • The project would be successful if Ghanaian find more of the local content online of which they can read the synopsis to have a preview of the movie before they go and buy.
  • The project would be successful if more movie directors are able to provide information about their works so that their articles would be found on Wikipedia.
  • if more people do more movie edits on Wikipedia it would prove the success of the project.
  • The Number of participant is 50
  • Number of articles edited 100

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding).

I would liaise with the Wikimedia Ghana User Group team in other to acquire the resources they have in their disposal. The project would be organized by Jwale2 and team in partnership with the WMGUG.

Southern Belt (Greater Accra)

  • Total Transport Cost 3 x 100 =GHC 300
  • Food Cost = 10 x 50 = GHC 500
  • Accommodation = 300 x 3 = GHC 600
  • Event Venue = GHC 400
  • Unforeseen Expenditure = GHC 300

SUBTOTAL = GHC 2100

Middle Belt (Ashanti Region)

  • Total Transport Cost 3 x 300 = GHC 600
  • Food Cost = 10 x 50 = GHC 500
  • Accommodation = 300 x 3 = 600
  • Event Venue = 400
  • Unforeseen Expenditure = GHC 300

SUBTOTAL = GHC 2400

Northern Belt (Northern Region)

  • Total Transport Cost 3 x 450 = GHC 1350
  • Food Cost = 10 x 50 = GHC 500
  • Accommodation = 300 x 3 = 600
  • Event Venue = 400
  • Unforeseen Expenditure = GHC 300

SUBTOTAL = GHC 3150
