In the internet era, blogging is a Major business among Nigerian youths. Over 90% of this group engages in blogging. This project aims at teaching Nigerian bloggers the act of a Neutral Point of view (NPOV) and an encyclopedic way of writing.

  • The plan is to identify Nigerian bloggers who are interested in this project through the Nigeria Association of Bloggers.
  • Organize 1-Day Wikipedia training
  • Host an edit-a-ton to edit articles about blogging in Nigeria and also nitable Nigerian bloggers.
  • There will be followup mentoring program


1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings?

I plan to organise One-training and One-editathon

2. How have you let relevant Wikimedia communities know about this proposal? You are required to provide links to on-wiki pages to inform these communities about your proposed work. Examples of places where this can be done include community discussion pages, affiliate discussion pages, or relevant project talk pages.

You may also provide information about external social media channels you may be using.

I have concluded arrangement with the leadership of the Nigerian Association of Bloggers on how to host the event.

3. How will you let participants know about the edit-a-thon? In what ways will you be communicating with them?
For example, these can include on-wiki spaces, social media channels, mailing lists, messaging apps, or physical/online gatherings.

I've been communicating with the members of the Nigerian Bloggers through their internal communication platform.

No, the participants are new to Wikipedia but they are skillful in writing and content creation.
Expected participants must have at least a working device

Create a Whatsapp/Telegram group or their any other means of communication that could be comfortable to the community.

Semny1960. I am a Journalist, event organizer, blogger and edit Wikipedia. I am a member of the Wikimedia User Group Nigeria and a student of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism ( NIJ).I participated in some of the Wikipedia events at the institution and it has spurred my mind to contribute more to the sum of open knowledge.
