[edit]We represent the Wikipedia Khmer. In order to host a Wikipedia watch party and you that opportunity for basic Wiki training and user networking, we would need limited funds to voer for the costs of the vents: rental of the room, light food and beverages, rentral of appropriate material (projector, extra computers, ...). Activities which relate to our grant include:
- Data packages to distribute to Wikimania participants
- Administrative or operational costs for to distribute funds to community members, such as transfer fees
- Small hardware expenses to support access (such as webcams, microphones, head/earphones)
- Video production support for pre-recorded Wikimania sessions (such as equipment or space)
- In-person meetups that coincide with Wikimania activities (food, beverage, meeting space)
- Post-Wikimania meetups resulting from having attended Wikimania (food, beverage, meeting space)
All funds that we are currently submitting a grant for are to be spent in and around the hosting of a watch party in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. No funds are to be distributed.
Outcomes
[edit]Our estimate for the number of participants the funding will support is between 15 and 30 people. Wikipedia Khmer has known a rising interest from readers (going over the threshold of 3M+ views in May 2021) but the number of editors and active users is decreasing. Hopefully this event can spark new interet, especially among urban students, postgraduates and University teachers.
Budget
[edit]This is a summary outline of how we hope to spend our grant:
- Childcare services (or similar family services): 0
- Data packages to distribute to Wikimania participants: 50$
- In addition to a total budget, please indicate the average data cost per person who will receive funds for this need.
- Administrative or operational costs for distributing funds: 50$ for editing and printing relevant materials
- Small hardware expenses to support access: 200$ for renting a projector and a personal loan for computers
- Translation services for a Wikimania session: 0
- Video production support: 100$ for a short trailer video in Khmer to introduce Wikimania 2021 to a Khmer audience
- Meetups during or after Wikimania activities (food, beverage, meeting space): 150$ (includind private room at coworking coffee space)
