Project Plan[edit]

Activities[edit]

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. Be sure to answer the following questions:

1. Are you doing one editathon or training or a series of editathons or trainings? We will have one editathon on April 10th, 2020. During the editathon four training sessions - getting started, fixing typos, adding citations, and adding links.

2. How will you let your community know about the event? Please paste links below to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions. We will collaborate with faculty who will bring their students to the event. This will provide the majority of our participants from the University community. We will also be inviting additional faculty, staff, administration and friends through the university’s online newsletter, as well as posting flyers around campus. In addition, we will advertise at local libraries and create a Facebook Event to invite the broader San Joaquin County community.

3. Do you have experienced Wikimedia editors to lead the event? We will have at least four experienced editors leading the event. The editors will be providing four trainings, as well as one-on-one support. The editors include Yogabrarian, Cheermio, Books&Archives, and Whence-wither.

4. Do participants have the equipment or skills needed to participate and contribute high quality content? If not, how will you support them? Participants will be encouraged to bring their own devices (laptops or tablets); however we can provide laptops. In addition, we will be providing a list of areas where participants can begin contributing content related to women of San Joaquin County, including Delia Locke, Iola Brubeck, Tillie Lewis, and additional women linked from “List of people from Stockton, CA and buildings in Stockton "Buildings and Structures in Stockton, California.”

5. How will you engage participants after the event(s)? After the event, we will send out a follow up email thanking our participants, celebrating the impact of our event, soliciting feedback they have, and inviting them to our next editathon in the fall of 2020.

6. Is there anything else you want to tell us about this project?

Impact[edit]

How will you know if the project is successful and you've met your goals? Please include the following targets:

  1. Number of events - 1 event
  2. Number of participants - 50
  3. Number of new editors - 30
  4. Number of of articles created or improved- 200
  5. Number of repeat participants (for projects that include a series of events) - 20

Resources[edit]

What resources do you have? Include information on who is organizing the project, what they will do, and if you will receive support from anywhere else (in-kind donations or additional funding). We have several library staff members organizing the project. They will be preparing the trainings and training materials, creating marketing materials, reaching out to potential participants, and running the event. The University Libraries' Special Collections will contribute $100 to the event.

What resources do you need? For your funding request, list bullet points for each expense and include a total amount.
