From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki

Project summary[edit]

Briefly summarize your project proposal. This project is aimed at increasing the intensity and sound of the Wikimedia gong towards getting many more younger persons actively involved in the Wikimedia activities by getting involved with editing and spreading the news of the numerous wealth of knowledge embedded in Wikimedia. This project is not going to be restricted to the campuses in Lagos, this time, I am taking it to official professional premises of young, advanced and educated people to get them to know better, the usage of the wekimedia resources and of course, get them to be active participants in the scheme of language affairs. Recently, as an Igbo linguist, I have seen numerous young humans struggle alot with sourcing language informations and data about their day to day language usage, and I have made it a point of duty to always refer them to this right source, but that not withstanding, a whole lot of work is needed out there as people are not sounding the Wikimedia gong enough. Particularly, narrowing it down to the Igbo language, an adult made a very wrong expression to a more advanced adult few days ago in my presence. I could feel the disappointment of the boy's father having heard such utterance from his son, a very little language error that would have been solved if such boy was aware of a reservoir of language information like Wikimedia. I am an Igbo Linguist and we cannot shy away from the fact that so many persons are so ignorant of the activities we spearhead, preach and advertise. It has become necessary that this gong must continue to be sounded not just in campuses in Lagos, but in other spheres of human engagement, this time, to the market and offices.

This will be a two days activity, involving major edits, publishes and if course adequate checks and balancing to ensure results are duely achieved. There will also be a kind of language quiz where the most highly performed person will be given an empty note to fill it up with Igbo word data in 3days after which I will gift him/ her an Igbo/English dictionary from the project purse. The second day of this event will have me and few colleagues, holding participants hands and putting them through articles and editings, we will have those struggling so much with Igbo word pronunciation share the greatest fear and challenges and direct them to find solutions.
